McLaren releases a unique livery with Japanese influences.
For the Japanese Grand Prix, McLaren has unveiled a livery that draws inspiration from ancient calligraphy.
The concept behind the design, created by Japanese artist MILTZ, was to depict the speed of an F1 car "in the form of a dragon racing in the clouds." Edomoji is a calligraphy that has been combined with what McLaren refers to as "modern art and culture."
"When I first became a freelance artist, I never thought an opportunity like this was possible - this is the biggest international project I have ever done," said MILTZ.
"As I develop as an artist, I want my work to support the rich customs of Japanese writing culture, like edomoji, but with a contemporary edge.
"From my work with local businesses in Japan to the McLaren Formula 1 team, there are so many beautiful stories to tell through art."
