Ferrari has yet to contend for victory this season, but Team Principal Frederic Vasseur finds encouragement in the team's displayed performance.

Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur remains optimistic despite his team's trailing position behind Red Bull at the onset of the 2024 Formula 1 season. Ferrari has secured third-place finishes in the initial two rounds, while Red Bull has dominated with consecutive 1-2 finishes. Red Bull's strong performance hints at another successful season, following their dominant display last year, where they won 21 out of 22 races.

In his second season leading Ferrari, Vasseur emphasized that his immediate priorities do not revolve around achieving specific results.

"When questioned about Red Bull's lead, Vasseur stated, 'If we can replicate the progress we made last year, it's encouraging,'" Vasseur said in response to RacingNews365.

He stressed his focus on team development, regardless of current standings, stating, "I'm concentrated on team efforts and the ongoing car development. Even if we happen to outperform Red Bull on any given weekend, I'll maintain the same approach and strive to improve further the following week."

Vasseur emphasized the importance of continuous development, emphasizing, "Regardless of our position—whether we're in P1, P2, or P3—we'll maintain our commitment to full throttle development and adhere to the same approach."

Vasseur, in his assessment of Ferrari's performance after the Bahrain and Jeddah races, emphasized the positive strides the team has made. Carlos Sainz's third-place finish in Bahrain, followed by Charles Leclerc's podium result in Jeddah, showcased promising signs for Ferrari's competitiveness. Despite acknowledging the substantial lead held by Red Bull, Vasseur remained optimistic about Ferrari's ability to close the gap in the upcoming races.

"While it's undeniable that Red Bull currently holds a significant advantage," Vasseur remarked frankly, "our primary focus remains on narrowing that gap. We understand that they are still ahead of us, and I won't downplay that fact."

He continued, "However, the recent performances we've seen in Saudi Arabia represent a notable step forward for us. These improvements are built upon the positive indicators we observed in Bahrain. It's a clear signal of progress, and it serves as a source of great motivation for the entire team."

Vasseur's assessment underscores Ferrari's determination to continue pushing forward and striving for better results, despite the challenges posed by Red Bull's dominance in the early stages of the season.
