Ty Dillon Joins Kaulig Racing for Five-Race NASCAR Cup Series Schedule

The NASCAR Cup Series veteran, with seven years of experience, will pilot the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro for Kaulig Racing in five races, commencing with Sunday's event at Richmond Raceway.

Ty Dillon, a seasoned competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series over multiple years, will collaborate with Kaulig Racing for a partial schedule in NASCAR's premier division in 2024, as officially announced by the organization on Monday.

Hailing from Lewisville, North Carolina, Dillon will take the helm of the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro for five NASCAR Cup Series races throughout the season, commencing with Sunday's Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Dillon stated, "I'm thrilled to return to the NASCAR Cup Series with Kaulig Racing. This platform represents the pinnacle of our sport and provides me with the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities alongside exceptional leaders such as Matt Kaulig, Chris Rice, Travis Mack, and the entire team. Joining Kaulig Racing presents the optimal chance for me to exhibit my potential on the track."

Dillon is slated to make appearances in the multi-driver entry at Texas Motor Speedway (April 14), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (June 23), Richmond Raceway (August 11), and Kansas Speedway (September 29).

After dedicating seven years to full-time competition in the NASCAR Cup Series, Dillon has transitioned to a full-time program in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for 2024, where he pilots the No. 25 Chevrolet Silverado for Rackley WAR.

"Given our ongoing success in the sport and the backing from Richard Childress Racing, it was a natural choice to enlist the services of a seasoned driver to help steer the No. 16."

With Dillon's extensive experience with the intricacies of the seventh-generation racecar, having competed full-time in the series in 2022 and 2023 under Petty GMS Motorsports and Spire Motorsports, respectively, the partnership benefits all involved. Despite his limited success during this time, securing only a single top-10 finish, his familiarity with the dynamics of the series is invaluable.

Throughout his 11 NASCAR Cup Series starts at Richmond Raceway, Dillon has achieved two top-20 results at the three-quarter-mile track, including a career-best 17th-place finish during the Summer of 2022 while racing for Petty GMS.

Dillon now joins a distinguished lineup of drivers for the No. 16 Chevrolet, which has included NASCAR Cup Series race-winners AJ Allmendinger and Shane Van Gisbergen, alongside Cup Series rookie Derek Kraus, slated for a six-race schedule in the entry for 2024.
