F2 standout Oliver Bearman is poised to gain further chances in Formula 1 this season, following a public commitment from Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur. The 18-year-old is set to participate in multiple FP1 sessions with Haas throughout the year, paving the way for a full-time seat in 2025.

As mentioned by Junaid on Twitter (now X), Vasseur stated, “He will commence FP1 sessions with Haas shortly, which will be crucial for providing him with experience and mileage in the car. He will participate in several FP1 sessions with Haas during the season.” Vasseur further mentioned that Ferrari and Haas plan to offer him FP1 opportunities in Brazil and Mexico.

Despite receiving widespread acclaim for his impressive debut in Saudi Arabia over a week ago, Oliver Bearman's evaluation remains premature according to Vasseur. Instead, Vasseur advises everyone, including the media, to reserve judgment on the 18-year-old until after his appearances in Brazil and Mexico later this year.

Despite Vasseur's request, the speculation regarding Bearman's future persists. There are also rumors circulating that Ferrari is considering Bearman as a potential long-term successor to Lewis Hamilton. However, Vasseur dismisses such speculations as unimpressive.

Since Lewis Hamilton will reach 40 years old next year upon his arrival at Ferrari, several experts anticipate that the seven-time champion might have a brief tenure at Maranello. However, Fred Vasseur has dismissed such conjectures. Recently, the Frenchman stated (as quoted by Junaid on Twitter), “Let's not jump ahead to post-Hamilton scenarios. Lewis isn't part of the team yet. Nonetheless, it's certainly a positive sign for Ollie. His F1 debut in Saudi Arabia marked a significant milestone.”

While Vasseur believes it's premature for Ferrari to make decisions about Bearman's future, there's no denying the impressive performance of the 18-year-old during his F1 debut in Jeddah. Qualifying 11th and nearly eliminating Hamilton in the process, Bearman secured a seventh-place finish in the Grand Prix.

The young Briton crossed the finish line ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris and Mercedes' Hamilton. Shortly after Bearman outpaced his fellow countrymen, Hamilton was among the first to extend his congratulations to the 18-year-old with a handshake.

Hamilton's admiration for Bearman persisted in his post-race interviews. According to Crash.net, Hamilton commended Bearman for delivering an impressive performance for a prestigious team like Ferrari at such short notice.

The British prodigy received merely three hours' notice before participating in the third free practice session. Following just one full practice session, he proceeded to qualify and then compete in his debut race.
