A fan recounts an unpleasant experience as Carlos Sainz faces a crowd ahead of the Australian GP.

Following his unfortunate absence from the Saudi Arabian GP, Carlos Sainz returned to his usual routine in Australia. However, the Spanish driver encountered a challenging start to the week. A fan who encountered him at the hotel recounted witnessing Sainz being swarmed by a crowd despite appeals for calmness.

A social media post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @forsainz featured a quote from a fan, stating, "There was a small group waiting for him (Sainz) to check-in. However, upon his arrival, others crowded around him at the door. Despite his assurance to sign autographs later, people still attempted to approach him."

This isn't the first time Carlos Sainz has encountered difficulties with his own fans. Earlier last year, there was a disturbance among fans awaiting his autographs and selfies. Despite Sainz urging cooperation and promising to sign autographs for everyone, some fans did not comply. Nevertheless, the Spaniard stayed behind and fulfilled his commitment by signing autographs.

Unfortunately, Sainz isn't the only Formula 1 driver to experience unpleasant encounters with fans recently. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, has faced several incidents of a more serious nature. Fans went as far as reaching his apartment and ringing his doorbell for autographs, prompting Leclerc to address the issue on Instagram and request respect for his privacy.

Similarly, Alpine driver Pierre Gasly had to deal with fans overstepping boundaries. On one occasion, Gasly discovered his backpack had been opened, although no items were missing. This incident was particularly concerning as his backpack contained valuables, including his passport.

Carlos Sainz doesn't have a definite confirmation to participate in the Australian GP.

Carlos Sainz had a strong start to the 2024 season, delivering a commendable performance that secured him a podium finish in Bahrain. Additionally, he appeared comfortable and performed well in the two practice sessions held in Jeddah.

However, following a period of illness, medical professionals diagnosed him with appendicitis. The Spaniard underwent emergency surgery to have his appendix removed, leading to his absence from the remainder of the race weekend.

Despite recuperating during a week-long break and being prepared for a comeback at the Australian Grand Prix, there is no certainty that he will participate in the upcoming race. Sainz must receive clearance from the FIA's medical team.

The medical evaluation will involve a stress test, including a drill where he must exit his F1 car within 10 seconds. These assessments are scheduled for Thursday, one day before the commencement of the race weekend.

Should Carlos Sainz not receive medical clearance, Oliver Bearman might secure another opportunity to drive for Ferrari. In Jeddah, the British driver proved to be an exceptional substitute, delivering a strong performance despite having only one practice session to acclimate to the car. Bearman achieved a commendable seventh-place finish in the race, garnering praise from his fellow drivers.
