Red Bull Management Set to Offer F1 Debut to Emerging Talent from Junior Series This Season
Another promising Red Bull junior talent will step onto the Formula 1 stage later in the current season, following the tradition of talent development at Milton Keynes.
Isack Hadjar, a Formula 2 podium finisher, is set to take the wheel for Red Bull's sister team, AlphaTauri, during FP1 at the Mexican Grand Prix in October. This opportunity will provide him with a chance to make an impression on Christian Horner and Helmut Marko.
Hadjar, a Frenchman who was a contender for the championship during his rookie Formula 3 season in 2022, served as the reserve driver for both teams during the Singapore Grand Prix and will continue in the same role in Japan this weekend.
The need for a new reserve driver arose as Liam Lawson, the current reserve driver, had to step in to race in place of the injured Daniel Ricciardo.
Red Bull boasts a wealth of talent in Formula 2 this season, with six of the 22 drivers hailing from their Milton Keynes program. Among them, Ayumu Iwasa holds the highest position in the championship, currently sitting in third place, while Hadjar is the lowest-ranked of the six, occupying 14th place.
Despite AlphaTauri's lineup not being officially confirmed for the next season, it is unlikely that any of these drivers will secure an F1 race seat, especially considering that Lawson, Ricciardo, and Yuki Tsunoda are competing for two available spots. This leaves limited room for an emerging F2 junior to break into Formula 1, particularly if they are not contending for top honors in the junior Formula E category.
