Piastri's Performance as an F1 Rookie Surpasses Expectations, Says Norris

Lando Norris believes that Oscar Piastri, his McLaren teammate, has surpassed expectations during his debut Formula 1 season.

Piastri, an Australian driver, faced significant pressure when he joined the Formula 1 grid due to his impressive junior career, which included three consecutive championship victories culminating in the Formula 2 title.

The contractual dispute involving Piastri, McLaren, and his former team Alpine, who had played a role in his ascent through motorsport's ranks, added even more pressure as he transitioned to Formula 1.

However, any concerns about a lackluster start to his Formula 1 career have been dispelled, as Piastri has had an outstanding debut season in which he patiently awaited a competitive car to showcase his racing talent.

Significant advancement has been made.

"Congratulations to him. I believe any contract that extends your stay in Formula 1 is a positive development. He has delivered on the track and exceeded what most people anticipated from him this season. He has been a strong competitor and has pushed me significantly. So, kudos to him for securing a contract for the next few years. We've had an enjoyable first half of the season, and there has been considerable progress. Having him as part of that progress and hopefully continuing it in the upcoming years, '25 and '26, is something to be excited about."
