Matt Kaulig Details Daniel Hemric's Contribution to His NASCAR Cup Series Team in the Upcoming Year

Daniel Hemric is set to mark his return to the NASCAR Cup Series next year with Kaulig Racing, a move that the team announced earlier this month.

This decision, according to Matt Kaulig, the team's owner, signifies an ongoing progression for a relatively new entity in comparison to the more established powerhouses in the racing world.

"Through this journey, we're consistently working on building the team," Kaulig shared during the CC Sabathia's PitCCh In Foundation Charity Golf Tournament, where Kaulig Companies served as the title sponsor. "We've been at it for eight or nine years now. We started in the Xfinity Series with just one car, driven by Blake Cooke. He was with us for a couple of years, and we've continued to expand and evolve."

"We initially started with two cars, then expanded to three Xfinity cars, and just last year, we acquired the charter. So, we're only in our second year competing in NASCAR's premier series. Everyone we're up against has decades of experience – 30, 40, even 50 years. They've got a significant head start," Kaulig explained.

Kaulig Racing has fielded Justin Haley (No. 31) and AJ Allmendinger (No. 16) in the Cup Series, but in the upcoming season, Daniel Hemric will take the wheel of the No. 31 Camaro ZL1.

Hemric expressed his excitement, stating, "This is a monumental day, and it holds deep significance for my family and me. It's truly special to have the opportunity to accomplish something significant with a group of people who share the same passion. It takes determination, and every member of Kaulig Racing possesses that quality. I'm eager to finish this season on a strong note and get right back to work in the offseason with the entire Kaulig Racing team."

Hemric, the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, has been racing for Kaulig Racing for his second full season in NXS. Kaulig elaborated on why Hemric was the ideal choice for the Cup Series next season.

"We chose Daniel because he's not a young rookie. He's more of a seasoned veteran, yet he's still relatively young," Kaulig clarified. "At 32 years old, he has plenty of racing ahead of him. He's a great example of someone who excels off the racetrack and has a strong rapport with sponsors."

One of those sponsors is Cirkul, a water brand. Kaulig noted that Cirkul had a strong affinity for Hemric, evident in their sponsorship of him for 14 races in 2023, including the season opener at Daytona.

Kaulig Racing is one of the premier teams in the NXS, and Hemric is a significant contributor to their success. He was the only previous NXS champion to make the playoffs this year.

Hemric also has substantial experience in the NCS, including winning the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award in 2019 with Richard Childress Racing.

In his 47 NCS starts, Hemric has secured one pole award, achieved one top-five finish, garnered three top-10 finishes, and led a total of 22 laps.
