Kentucky Horse Racing Commission Unveils Appointed Safety Steward
"A Newly Appointed Safety Steward Takes Charge of Ensuring Horse Safety in Kentucky"
Beth Bungert has been designated as the Safety Steward by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, a role that was established in collaboration with the Horse Integrity and Safety Authority back in June.
In her capacity as Safety Steward, Bungert will oversee the adherence to safety standards and regulations at racetracks. She will also provide recommendations to racetrack management regarding the safety of both horses and riders.
According to Jamie Eads, the Executive Director of KHRC, safety is a collective responsibility within the racing community, and effective communication among officials, participants, and track management is crucial for ensuring safety and compliance. The appointment of Beth Bungert is met with enthusiasm because of her comprehensive understanding of day-to-day racing operations, her ability to identify potential safety improvements, and her deep-rooted concern for the well-being of the sport.
Having amassed two decades of experience in the racing industry and having worked in virtually every role within it, Bungert sees this position as the culmination of her career in the racetrack. She looks forward to combining her diverse experiences to enhance the safety of both horses and riders.
