Denny Hamlin Commits to Joe Gibbs Racing with Multiyear Contract Extension

Denny Hamlin Extends His Stay at Joe Gibbs Racing with a Multiyear Contract, Remaining with the Team He's Been Part of Since 2005

On Monday, the organization officially announced that Denny Hamlin has inked a multiyear contract extension, securing his position as the driver of the No. 11 Toyota Camry TRD in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The terms of this contract extension, as per the company's press release, will remain confidential.

Hamlin made his debut in the Cup Series race back in October 2005 at Kansas and has since accumulated over 600 starts, all under the ownership of Joe Gibbs.

In a statement, Joe Gibbs expressed amazement at the fact that Hamlin first joined the team nearly two decades ago and highlighted Hamlin's enduring role within Joe Gibbs Racing, expressing anticipation for many more years of collaboration.

Hamlin boasts an impressive career record of 50 wins in the Cup Series, a statistic that ties him for 13th place in NASCAR history. Among his achievements are three victories in the Daytona 500, three in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, and one in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

This year marks Hamlin's 17th appearance in the NASCAR playoffs, and he has reached the final championship round on four occasions: in 2014, 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Hamlin emphasized the significance of his longstanding relationship with Joe Gibbs and his team, stating that they have achieved a great deal together over the years.

Despite facing setbacks in the pits and a late-race accident leading to a 25th-place finish in the Southern 500 at Darlington, Hamlin's commitment to driving for JGR remained unwavering. He made it clear during NASCAR playoff media day and on Thursday that he was still completely dedicated to the team.

Hamlin, along with the 15 other NASCAR playoff contenders, will compete at Kansas this Sunday.
